Using Claude to Clean Junk Apps on Android

My parents’ Android phone had 600+ apps installed. They couldn’t see OTPs because hundreds of junk apps were flooding notifications nonstop. Fake PDF readers, fake antivirus, the usual bloatware that somehow multiplies on its own.

I connected the phone wirelessly from my Mac using Claude. It installed ADB, paired over WiFi, listed every package, told me which ones were junk, and bulk-uninstalled them in rounds. The whole thing felt like pair-programming with someone who also happens to know Android internals.

It categorized everything (video apps, cleaning scams, junk/spam) and removed them methodically. By the end, we’d removed roughly 400+ apps total (160 video + 42 cleaning + 241 junk/spam).

The phone is dramatically quieter now. The whole thing took about 30 minutes end to end.

Sometimes the best use of AI isn’t writing code. It’s fixing your parents’ phone.
